Girl Scout Farm & Horseback Riding Adventure
Unleash Adventure, Confidence and Learning at Hoot’s Hollow Farm
At Hoot’s Hollow Farm, Scouts of different levels can enjoy the same hands-on farm and horseback riding adventure together while working toward age-appropriate Girl Scout badge requirements. Daisies can work toward the Animal Observer badge, Brownies toward the Pets badge, and Juniors toward the Horseback Riding badge.
Our three-hour experience combines horseback riding, real horse care, animal interaction, creativity and plenty of fun in a safe, welcoming family farm setting.
Program Highlights:
Action-Packed 3-Hour Adventure: Scouts learn about horse care, including feeding, grooming, leading and mucking stalls.
Individual Riding Time: Each Scout receives individual riding time tailored to her age, ability and confidence level on our gentle horses, Hoot and Odin.
Hands-On Riding Skills: Scouts learn how to safely start, stop and steer a horse, first with assistance and then with greater independence as they are ready.
Confidence Building: Our goal is to help every child feel successful. No child is ever forced to ride, and we work gently with nervous or first-time riders to help them feel comfortable and proud of what they accomplish.
Art and Creativity: The girls take a break for cookies and paint a ceramic horse plaque to bring home as a special keepsake.
Animal Interaction: Scouts visit our walk-in chicken coop and spend time interacting with our chickens, quail and bunnies. This is often one of their favorite parts of the day!
Fun Little Store: Scouts can visit our Mini Market, filled with fun little treasures, souvenirs, snacks and treats, with items priced at $5 or less.
Program Details:
Cost: $40 per participating child, with a minimum of 6 Scouts per group.
Scheduling: Flexible scheduling is available, with Sundays from 1:00–4:00 PM being our most popular choice.
Booking: A $300 deposit is normally required to reserve your date. If your total group cost is less than $300, the full group amount is due to reserve the date. Any remaining balance is due on the day of the program.
Hoot’s Hollow Fun Patch: A special Hoot’s Hollow Farm Fun Patch is available for $5 and can be worn on the back of a Girl Scout vest or sash as a fun reminder of their farm adventure.
Siblings Are Welcome: Brothers and sisters are welcome to join the fun too! Siblings who would like to participate in the activities and horseback riding can join right alongside the Scouts for the same $40 participant fee.
Parents Are Welcome: We encourage parents to stay and share in the experience. There is nothing quite like watching your Scout become more confident, capable and courageous right before your eyes!

Meet Hoot and Odin: Get to know Hoot, a Tennessee Walker/Spotted Saddle Horse, and Odin, an Icelandic Horse. Learn how to safely feed, approach, and walk these majestic creatures. Build a bond of trust with the horse as you teach it to back up and lead it around the pasture. This hands-on activity is both fun and educational.
Guided Horse Ride: Saddle up for a guided ride where you'll learn to steer, stop, and back up the horse. Kids can even dress up in a cowboy hat and fringed half-chaps for a memorable photo session.
Unlock the Enchanted Cottage: Discover the magic as you unlock the door to Mr. Chicken's enchanted cottage and fish for candy. It's a whimsical adventure that will enchant kids of all ages.

Farmyard Frolic – Preschool & Toddler Farm Tour in San Diego
Looking for a gentle, hands-on farm experience in San Diego that’s perfect for younger children?
Our Farmyard Frolic at Hoot’s Hollow Farm in Bonita is a one-hour, interactive farm tour designed especially for toddlers, preschoolers, and TK-aged children. This small-group experience gives little ones the chance to explore the farm at their own pace in a calm, welcoming environment.
During this approximately 1-hour visit, children will:
• Step inside our walk-in chicken coop and meet our colorful rainbow egg-laying hens
• Hold and cuddle bunnies and quail
• Pet, feed, and meet our gentle horses
